Principles of Event Management

Description: Students will gain the foundational knowledge and skills required for the successful management of corporate, non-profit and social special events. Areas of focus include event research, design, planning, coordination and evaluation. By participating in the execution of a campus or community-based special event, students will incorporate principles of concept and theme development, program design destination/site research and selection, sourcing of vendors and service providers, and fundamental target marketing concepts. Students will visit local event venues and engage with event planning professionals. As a team project, students will plan elements of an event experience for a target audience guided by specific goals and objectives.
