Writing Children's Literature

Description: Students read and discuss a large number of children's picture books and study the history, psychology and business of writing for children. They examine such devices as rhythm, repetition, theme, character and the relationship between image and word, and write three picture book manuscripts, plus one book review and two essays exploring their own thoughts about picture books and children's stories.

Prerequisite: ENG-112 OR COR-125 OR PERMISSION OF PROGRAM DIRECTOR
