Ceol Na Heirann: Cultural Immersion Through Music

Description: This course will explore the history and culture of Ireland through the medium of music, ranging from the 12th century to the present day, and will encompass numerous musical genres, ranging from traditional, classical, folk, ballad, dance music, fusion, and contemporary Irish music. It is intended that in addition to classroom/academic study of the music, that students will engage and experience same by attendance at recitals, cil (dances), concerts, and various gigs around the city throughout the semester.
