Gender, Sexual Identity & Communication
COM 402
Description: In this seminar-based course students will explore how gender and sexual identities are created, shaped, produced, reproduced, maintained, changed, contested, and challenged through communication practices. Broadly interdisciplinary, this course considers the intersection of gender and sexuality with other categories of identity in mediated (e.g. film, social networks, music) and non-mediated communication contexts. Students will complete a semester-long research project exploring communication, sexual identity and gender.
