Family Violence: Crisis and Justice

Description: This course provides an understanding of the psychological, social and legal factors related to child abuse/neglect and violent domestic relationships in America. Students will comprehend the root causes of family violence and the mutigenerational effects on its victims and society. They will identify the challenges of such acts for our criminal justice, social service and health care systems and articulate sometimes contradictory societal and legal responses to family violence?including prevention efforts, protection and treatment services, legal strategies, and current legislation.
