Description: This is a foundations course that introduces students to the values and ethics of the profession, the various types of work and settings within which social workers are employed, and the different populations served by social workers. Students will begin to explore client-worker ethical dilemmas and how to solve them. They will learn what distinguishes social work from other helping professions and what credentials are necessary to perform direct social work practice. They will be introduced to the basic principles and codes of the profession, including their impact on the professional relationships that social workers develop.
